Delivered by\u00a0The Manufacturer<\/a>\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)<\/a>, The Manufacturer MX (TMMX) Awards have a combined heritage of over 50 years and are widely regarded as the gold standard in industry awards.<\/p>\n

TMMX Awards exist to encourage, benchmark and celebrate manufacturing excellence, with every stage of the programme providing value for participants, whatever their excellence maturity.<\/p>\n

With TMMX Awards categories ranging from recognition in innovation and sustainability, through to apprenticeships, leadership and staff engagement. The Manufacturer is proud to support and champion the UK manufacturing sector and over the past two years the incredible agility, adaptability and resilience has shown there is no shortage of manufacturing excellence.<\/p>\n

The Smart Factory award will go to the manufacturing company that, in the opinion of the judges, has made the best use of data and technology to maximise its competitive advantage within the manufacturing facility. From design and innovation to supply chain and operations this award looks at how data is gathered and used effectively to improve decision making, develop the design process and control machinery and equipment.<\/p>\n

With two separate internal teams dedicated to R&D and continual improvement, the team at AML is empowered to actively develop processes. These teams have access to dedicated development budgets, allowing for the implementation of cutting-edge manufacturing systems technology and software.<\/p>\n

At AML, we not only pride ourselves on the advanced software we have in place, but on our ability to utilise the data to make active changes in the business to drive improvement. One key piece of technology that allows us to do this is a data management software from The Access Group, known as Analytics.<\/p>\n

Analytics works by collecting data from multiple sources, regardless of software manufacturer, and is organised to generate dashboards consisting of tables, graphs and charts. All staff have access to Analytics but are given specific access to the dashboards that they require. Line managers now simply screenshot Analytics to generate actions that are written into weekly reports, which has reduced the \u2018Monday morning\u2019 reporting activities from a few hours down to under an hour.<\/p>\n

The KPI\u2019s produced in Analytics are used to monitor activity throughout the business, from operations to finance, and utilise this to make active decisions that keep the business moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n

AML consistently reinvests profits to enhance the factory and facilities, with a focus on automation technology and software. The goal is to digitise all aspects of the company, particularly data collection and utilisation, exemplified using Analytics.<\/p>\n
