One such example of how we do this is our recent collaboration with Productive Machines.
AML was approached by a tier one aerospace supplier; they were struggling with delivery from a previous incumbent on a business jet aircraft engine component, so they asked AML to produce 3,000 intricate aerospace components. AML fully optimised the manufacturing process using our on-site five-axis milling machine and managed to reduce the cycle time significantly.
AML then collaborated with Productive Machines, who are experts in machining dynamics and simulation, to use their Siemens NX plug-in to optimise our tool paths.
SenseNC finesse is Productive Machines’ autonomous solution on tool path optimisation. It optimises both spindles speeds and feed rates. It works by taking cutting parameters material data and machine parameters into account and analyses the tool path at every cutting location.
The results were transformative: reduced cycle times by over 20%, minimised tool wear, better surface finish, significant reduction in carbon emissions and reduced cost to our customer.
For the modern machining organisation time is key so optimising machining strategy is vital and Productive Machines’ solution is not only easy to use but integrates seamlessly with Siemens NX.
